Water Distribution Specialist

About the role

The City of La Crosse Water Department is responsible for installing, operating, repairing, and maintaining the city’s wells, reservoirs, water mains, service connections, fire hydrants, and the main pumping station. As a Water Distribution Specialist, you will join a dedicated team working to provide sufficient, high-quality water to the City of La Crosse with minimal interruption. This position involves repairing and maintaining the water distribution system as part of a crew, operating motorized excavating, construction, and maintenance equipment such as backhoes and dump trucks.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the municipal water supply distribution system.
• Repair and maintain water mains, service connections, fire hydrants, and related infrastructure.
• Operate motorized excavating, construction, and maintenance equipment, including backhoes and dump trucks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with training in excavation, road construction, plumbing, or utility work; or any combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL), minimum Class B, with Tanker Endorsement, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. Class A CDL preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required within one year of hire.
