Water Compliance Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily compliance with the facility’s new stormwater permit.
  • Prepare comprehensive state and federal reports.
  • Review and oversee recordkeeping requirements.
  • Review new and proposed shipyard processes and equipment affecting stormwater pollution.
  • Compose environmental permitting applications related to facility construction projects.
  • Oversee/monitor construction projects to ensure environmental compliance.

Requirements

  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective in writing and communicating.
  • Daily interface with Operations, Management, the customer and regulatory personnel.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years post-graduate, technical experience working on construction projects or environmental consulting/permitting.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or related science.
  • Preferred: Experience using drafting software (AutoCad), experience with environmental regulations and permitting.

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Team attitude and willingness to collaborate with team members and other organizations.
  • Highly motivated and requires little supervision.
  • Self-starter and possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).

Physical Qualifications

  • Kneeling, Light Lifting, Stooping.

Environmental Attributes

  • Cold, Hot, Inside, Outside.
