PURPOSE
The Watchforce (WF) supports ORAU Safeguards & Security (S&S) by providing an unarmed physical presence on the ORAU Oak Ridge campuses. The primary objective is the protection of S&S interests, including security, employee safety, and property protection.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide surveillance for ORAU/Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) facilities to guard against theft, vandalism, fire, equipment malfunction, alarm activation, and unauthorized persons.
- Notify proper authorities when incidents occur, such as checking all exterior doors, windows, gates, and locks to ensure they are secure.
- Assess security-related concerns, respond to alarm activations, and conduct active surveillance.
- Engage in other activities as assigned, including performance tests, coverage for visitor control representatives, physical access control, policy/procedure revision, escorting visitors, assessing facilities and weather conditions.
- Work flexible hours as needed, with as little as 24-hour notice or scheduled days months in advance.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of job-related experience.
- Higher education may count for additional experience.
- At least 1 year of experience enforcing policies/procedures with law enforcement, public, or private sector organizations, or similar.
- Knowledge of security systems and equipment in a business environment is preferred.
- Background must not preclude security clearance.
- Current and valid Tennessee driver’s license with no major traffic violations.
- Ability to operate a government-owned vehicle safely.
- State of Tennessee Unarmed Security Guard License.
- Able to walk through all facilities at least twice each shift (5 miles per shift).
- Uses company-issued iPhone for communication and alerts.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer for accessing email, completing browser-based reports, and accessing relevant information.
- Able to work 12 hours each shift for seven consecutive shifts (occasionally working 10+ shifts consecutively).
- Able to be flexible with work schedule as needed.
