Watch Center Officer
SUMMARY OF WORK
To be considered for our Watch Center Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring incidents, emergencies and events within the State of North Dakota that could require a state response and ensuring operational readiness for the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).
You will support the maintenance and development of an overall daily Common Operating Picture (COP) for the State of North Dakota, serve as a rotating Watch Center Officer to provide ongoing situational awareness, coordinate assistance in response to emergencies and disasters, and assist with operations.
You will coordinate notification and initial preparedness and response-related activities with whole community partners, including voluntary, local, state, tribal, and federal agencies and the private sector.
Watch Officers will work a rotating schedule consisting of four 12-hour shifts followed by four days off. Shifts are currently assigned to dedicated day or night shifts, but the agency reserves the right to reevaluate and modify shift assignments if operational needs require. Employees will be provided a minimum of 30 days' notice prior to any schedule changes, when practicable.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An associate’s degree in a related field
- One year of professional work experience demonstrating extensive verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal communication skills
- Additional work experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis
- Successful completion of the interview process, reference checks and criminal background investigation are required
