About the role

The Wastewater Utility Operator monitors all on-site Utility Systems to support the manufacturing of Molecular Sieves.

Responsibilities

  • Checks pH levels of all wastewater streams to verify Wastewater Treatment plant is operating within specification; notifies supervisor if problems arise
  • Makes routine Wastewater Treatment plant system checks and responds to all associated alarms during shift
  • Cleans and calibrates pH probes; uses washing, acid cleaning and/or silicate cleaning procedures as required (records data as necessary)
  • Monitors and records data on all utilities to insure they are operating properly in support of operations including, but is not limited to, wastewater, air dryer, DI water system, cooling tower, and all other on-site utilities
  • Checks acid and caustic rates and water quality of the DI water system
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and supplies as necessary for the operation of the various utilities
  • Performs PMs on wastewater systems
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
  • Hazardous chemical experience – caustics and acids, required
  • Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and maintain equipment including automated valves, performance pumps, MAG Drive pumps, agitator/gear box (for oil), and wastewater auto sampler, required
  • Control system experience and basic electrical experience, required
  • Experience unloading trucks, as well as connecting/disconnecting chemical drums, required
  • Availability for off shift coverage to support needs including emergency response, required
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check

Physical demands

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Must bend and twist on a regular basis
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Frequently required to walk upstairs and or steps

Work environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration
  • Noise level is usually moderate

Pay

$26-28 per hour

Schedule

Off shift coverage as needed including emergency response

Travel

No travel is anticipated.
