About the role
GHD has an exciting opportunity for a Wastewater/Water Treatment Plant Operator to be based in Questa, NM. As a Wastewater/Water Operator, you will work with the Contamination Assessment Remediation Group, supporting a variety of projects in a challenging and unique setting. You will interface directly with clients, oversee and direct contractors, be largely responsible for your own work, and become a trusted point of contact for our client.
Responsibilities
- Solutions Analysis: Find the most effective ways to respond to routine functional inquiries by following procedures and precedents.
- Testing: Develop product specifications and design test procedures and standards.
- Project Management: Support others by carrying out a range of project management activities.
- Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities through assessment and development planning, formal and informal training, and coaching. Maintain understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices via ongoing education, conferences, and specialist media.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for analysis of key themes and trends.
- Product and Solution Development: Carry out product development and engineering activities using established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
- Work Scheduling and Allocation: Design own monthly schedule and assign work to others to speed up office workflow and ensure high-priority tasks are completed.
- Equipment Installation: Assist specialists in setting up and testing new products or processes; install complex systems with guidance.
- Plant and Machinery Maintenance and Repair: Maintain and repair complex plant and machinery, supervise team members and contractors to ensure operational requirements are met, including regulatory and organizational health, safety, and environmental standards.
Requirements
- High School education required
- New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) Grade 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification
- New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) Grade 3 Wastewater Operator Certification
- Prior Wastewater Treatment Plant experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for periods of time, ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds, and ability to work outdoors part-time throughout the year as needed
- Ability to analyze field readings, data and operating parameters to optimize system operations
- New Mexico driver’s license and a clean driving record
Preferred Credentials
- NMED Grade 4 Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification
- NMED Grade 4 Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification
- 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
