About the role

The Wastewater Supervisor is responsible for technical oversight, regulatory compliance, and operational performance of site wastewater treatment systems within a high-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment. This role serves as both engineering authority and frontline leader, overseeing chemical treatment processes, ultra-high purity water systems, hazardous waste handling, and environmental compliance while managing a multi-shift operations team. The position partners closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, EHS, and Process Engineering to ensure safe, compliant, and scalable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Plant Manager to develop a continuous improvement plan and develop new hires with hands-on training and through training/certifications in HRIS system (PayCom).
  • Evaluate, interpret information and procedures to make timely decisions in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
  • Treat waste from processes and chemical waste, perform chemical analysis of tank compositions, filtration, changing chemicals or solutions in the chemical tanks, neutralizing solids from the chemical tanks, and maintain the chemical tanks and waste treatment area.
  • Master all Lab Tech and Chemist responsibilities, including running Wastewater lab instruments and stepping in to assist with any process.
  • Facilitate Wastewater lab area workflow, monitor progress, keep up-to-date on communications, and confirm priorities to meet quotas.
  • Master data collection and review: trending of instrument performance, part pass/fail rates, inventory usage, and work with engineering to establish and monitor baseline data.
  • Act as a representative for Chem Ops/Wastewater Lab: attend meetings, present, call outside services, and work with the Lab Manager.
  • Handle conflict, provide constructive feedback, and manage performance issues.
  • Develop and update SOPs, implement changes to existing procedures, and manage training for all Techs and Chemists.
  • Act in place of the WW Lab Manager during emergencies, work with the Plant Manager to accommodate shut-downs, and create action plans.

  • Wastewater systems operating within compliance 100% of the time.
  • Improved treatment efficiency and reduced chemical usage.
  • Fully trained and accountable team.
  • Clean audit results with zero major findings.
  • Strong partnership with engineering and EH&S teams.
  • Clear roadmap for system improvement and scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Supervisory role for 3+ years.
  • 5+ years in Industrial (Non-Municipal) wastewater treatment.
  • Experience in chemical processing or semiconductor/clean manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of acid/base chemistry, precipitation/flocculation processes, and hazardous waste handling.
  • Experience with environmental compliance and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or cleanroom environments.
  • Familiarity with high purity/ultra water systems and MAQ/control area concepts.
  • Experience leading multi-shift technical teams.
  • Exposure to PLC/automated systems and understanding of PLC programming.

Work Environment

  • Must be able to function well in an office, chemical, wastewater, and laboratory environment.
  • Persons sensitive to chemical environments due to medical conditions such as asthma or allergies may not be suitable for this position.
  • Able to travel to various Pentagon Technologies facilities as required.

Physical Demands

  • Must pass company-required screening tests.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, reach with hands and arms, and perform light routine office work, including computer usage.
  • Able to lift up to 35 lbs on an occasional or regular basis.
