Key Duties
- Collect and analyze samples
- Adjust treatment processes
- Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment
- Keep accurate operational records
- Respond to system alarms or equipment malfunctions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sufficient experience to understand basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
- Specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
- North Carolina Grade I Biological Water Pollution Control System Operator Certification preferred, required within 18 months of hire date
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License with the ability to meet the City’s Motor Vehicle Driver Eligibility Policy
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping
- Frequent lifting of light and occasionally heavy objects
- Climbing ladders
- Using tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity
- Working environment indoors, as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements
- Loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, bloodborne pathogens and various chemicals
- Transporting self across the facility, ascending and descending stair steps, lifting objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height
