About the Role
The Water Treatment Operator is responsible for the daily operation and upkeep of the Water Treatment Department, including inspections, equipment monitoring, preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with discharge limits.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks associated with the Water Treatment Operator role.
- Load and move By-Product trailers and tankers; serve as daily point of contact for deliveries and pick-ups.
- Complete By-product Bill of Lading and attach security seals where required.
- Clean Water Treatment area and equipment.
- Monitor Water & Waste Treatment control systems and recording devices.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and report mechanical or process deficiencies to Maintenance.
- Perform daily monitoring and lab testing of Water Treatment Effluent for process control; adjust processes to stay within discharge limits.
- Test and maintain Plant Water Softeners.
- Complete and organize daily records and paperwork.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Conduct snow removal as assigned.
- Assist with department projects, yard tasks, and other duties as assigned.
- Assist Wastewater Lead and Maintenance in repairs as needed.
- Observe and enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by communicating effectively with customers, coworkers, and leadership teams.
- Participate in process improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
Requirements
- 1-2 years’ experience in the operations and maintenance of Water Treatment plants, including ancillary and auxiliary equipment and distribution systems.
- Must possess or obtain within 12 months of employment a Water Treatment Operator Certification (Wastewater Level 1, 2, or 3).
- Resume is required for consideration.
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English to communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of maintenance/water treatment terminology to communicate with technical personnel.
- Experience driving a tractor/trailer or yard truck preferred; valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to routinely step up/down 18 inches, ascend/descend staircases (20+ steps), and use a 10-step ladder.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility in working hours and shifts based on departmental needs.
