Join the Department of Environmental Services, Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Division as a Wastewater Heavy Truck Driver at various locations around Oahu.

About the role

The Wastewater Heavy Truck Driver operates equipment such as dump trucks, tank trucks, forklifts, or tractors/trailers. This position performs minor maintenance on all mobile equipment and carries out unskilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment at wastewater treatment plants.

Responsibilities

  • Haul treatment plant screenings, grit, and by-product process solids to designated disposal areas.
  • Lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work on mobile equipment.
  • Drive a motor vehicle to transport personnel, equipment, materials, supplies, and waste material.

Special Working Conditions

  • May occasionally be exposed to active machinery, high voltages, depths and heights, toxic and explosive gasses, pressure fluid systems, and disease-bearing wastewater.
  • May work in obnoxious, filthy, and hazardous environments.
  • Position is required to be "on-call" during critical/emergency situations.
  • Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared civil defense emergencies.

Requirements

  • At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
  • Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the operation of heavy trucks.
  • Possession of a current, valid commercial driver's license (CDL), Class A, and a current State Department of Transportation medical examination certificate, at the time of application.

You must submit evidence of your CDL Class A license (front and back) and DOT medical examination certificate with the expiration dates visible. Attach an electronic copy of your CDL license and DOT medical examination certificate, or mail a photocopy to:
