Wastewater Engineer

Design Infrastructure That Supports Communities and Protects the Environment We're seeking a Wastewater Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help deliver impactful water and wastewater infrastructure projects for municipal, commercial, and residential clients. In this role, you'll be involved in the planning, design, permitting, and construction support of sanitary sewer collection systems, wastewater pump stations, wastewater treatment and disposal systems, and potable water supply infrastructure. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, and clients to deliver projects that improve public health and environmental quality. What You'll Do Design and develop sanitary sewer collection systems, wastewater pump stations, on-site wastewater treatment and disposal systems, and potable water supply infrastructure.Prepare engineering plans, construction drawings, technical specifications, and supporting design documentation using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.Apply Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) and Connecticut Department of Public Health (CT DPH) regulations, standards, and permitting requirements.Develop technical reports, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, and permit application packages.Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and project budgets throughout the design and construction process.Coordinate local, state, and federal permitting efforts and respond to agency review comments.Collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams to ensure successful project delivery.Support presentations before planning and zoning boards, land use commissions, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.Conduct field investigations, site visits, and construction observations to verify existing conditions and support project implementation. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience focused on wastewater, water resources, or related civil engineering projects.Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.Experience designing sanitary sewer systems and wastewater pump stations.Experience with subsurface sewage disposal systems, including both small- and large-scale applications.Experience with potable water supply system design.Familiarity with CT DEEP and CT DPH design standards and permitting requirements.Strong understanding of civil and environmental engineering principles related to wastewater and water infrastructure.Ability to prepare technical reports, studies, and feasibility analyses.Experience coordinating permitting activities with regulatory agencies. Preferred Qualifications Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward professional licensure.Experience preparing permit applications and supporting agency review processes.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
