About the role

The Wash Bay Appearance Prep Technician performs basic duties related to the daily production and operations of the truck wash bay to ensure schedules, quality, and efficiency while maintaining a professional company image.

Responsibilities

• Tracks labor costs per unit to assist in the costing of remanufactured goods.
• Cleans vehicles for pictures, mechanical service, paint & body service, and/or customer delivery.
• Uses high-pressure hoses to spray vehicles and remove dirt and grease to required standards based on production stage.
• Scrubs, scrapes, or sprays machine parts, equipment, or vehicles using scrapers, brushes, cloths, cleaners, disinfectants, insecticides, acid, abrasives, vacuums, or hoses.
• Inspects parts, equipment, or vehicles for cleanliness, damage, and compliance with standards.
• Details vehicles as directed, including:
  • Operating cleaning machines as necessary.
  • Mixing cleaning solutions, abrasive compositions, or other compounds according to formulas.
  • Rinsing objects and placing them on drying racks or using cloths, squeegees, or air compressors to dry surfaces.
• Maintains tools, equipment, and shop area to ensure availability and safe functioning.
• Maintains a safe and organized work area to limit risk of accidents or injuries.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-year experience in a similar role or certification from a recognized training program, accredited trade school, or similar institution.

Skills

• Mechanical: Knowledge of basic machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Use of Tools: Basic knowledge or ability to learn the use of tools common to the trade, such as power buffers, buffing machines, machine polishers, portable buffers, power washers, and scrubbers.
• Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Detail-oriented: Ability to focus on accuracy and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
• Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing work priorities and meet deadlines and schedules.
• Prioritization: Ability to set priorities and maintain effective workflows.
• Active Listening: Proven ability to give full attention to what others are saying, understand points being made, ask appropriate questions, and avoid interrupting.

Mental & Physical Requirements

• Attitude: Requires "people" skills and a genuine desire to service clients; a positive attitude and professional demeanor are essential.
• Attendance: Ability to work scheduled hours (6:00 am–2:30 pm, Monday–Friday) plus additional hours/days as needed to meet business demands. Work may involve extreme temperature variations and hazardous conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
• Physical Demands:
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
  • Ability to climb and balance on/off trucks, ladders, and platforms above 42”.
  • Significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout an 8–12 hour day, up to 60 hours per week.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment at heights up to and exceeding 100 feet.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Schedule
