Summary
Performs tasks that assist the logistics team in the upkeep of MEI buildings, grounds, and company vehicles. Duties include washing exteriors and interiors of company vehicles, cleaning various equipment, and maintaining the wash bay.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Washes exteriors and interiors of company vehicles.
- Cleans various equipment.
- Cleans up the wash bay at the end of each day, ensuring everything is returned to its proper place, supplies are stocked, etc.
- Keeps the Logistics Coordinator informed on soap supply in the wash bay.
- Trashes pick up - all trash in shop areas, fuel pump areas, mezz areas, and facility area.
- Cleans and sweeps mezz area as needed.
- Cleans and sweeps the washer/dryer area as needed, including dusting/wiping down the area.
- Sweeps the front porch and around all entryways to MEI building.
- Replenishes paper towels and hand cleaner as needed.
- Sweeps by the dispatch counter, shakes off rugs if needed, and cleans the area.
- Every Saturday, the assigned employee checks all boxes on MEI site and drains off all water on taps, sweeps off snow if needed.
- Straightens shelves around roll off liners.
- Daily maintenance of MEI’s building and grounds such as painting, cutting grass, shoveling snow, etc., as needed.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains proper use of equipment and immediately notifies the supervisor of any issues with equipment.
- Ensures compliance with DOT mandated physical, drug, and alcohol testing requirements.
- Reports for all scheduled work shifts before the scheduled starting time and works until the scheduled stopping time, as required.
- Climbs ladders and into/out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers.
- Helps prepare job load lists.
- Aids in maintaining mezz inventory – distributes and replenishes stock, equipment, etc.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Attends MEI’s Saturday safety meetings once every other month if 40-hour trained.
- Wears and properly uses a variety of levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Reading comprehension skills.
- Math aptitude and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to navigate Windows based computer applications.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
- Ability to write clearly.
- Initiative, self-starter with the ability and desire to learn.
- Planning and organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with little or no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work.
Required Education, Training and Experience
- Valid Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
- Position involves frequent heights, regular strenuous physical exertion.
- Requires frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, climbing, sitting, talking, and listening.
- Requires frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, and carrying.
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
- Regular exposure to chemicals including but not limited to gasoline, diesel fuel, propane, kerosene, and cleaning solvents.
- Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
