Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Pay

Base Hourly: $19.89

  • New Hire Experience: 1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum
  • New Hire Education: 1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position
  • Performance Pay: Available annually

About the role

To receive, store, load and distribute district materials and supplies including in-district and out-of-district mailings, pick up and transfer of all district assets according to schedule to ensure timely delivery of goods; and to maintain accurate records to ensure sufficient funds and adequate supplies.

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work for Materiel Distribution Center in a safety sensitive position. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment. In compliance with federal law, employees required to have a Commercial Driver’s License shall also be tested upon application, post-accident and at random.

Responsibilities

  • Unload freight and check for shortages and damages
  • Accurately check all incoming freight against purchase order for correct description and quantity
  • Identify incoming MDC stock items; complete required forms; provide MDC office with information; put stock in storage location
  • Load and deliver all mail, goods and supplies according to established schedule to ensure timely delivery
  • Sort mail for in-district and out-of-district distribution; process all classes of mail, including bulk mailings and out-bound package returns, to ensure timely delivery
  • Ensure all items for schools and/or departments are properly identified
  • Fill instruction and/or office supply orders, restock supplies, assist in maintaining perpetual inventory of warehouse items
  • Pick up and transfer all district equipment or assets to alternate sites
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Maintain accurate records to support any required reporting documentation
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License with a good driving record
  • Previous warehousing experience

  • Ability to safely operate various vehicles up to 26,000 lbs GVW, forklift and other warehouse equipment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good physical condition and ability to safely lift up to and including 75-100 pounds

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Most of the work occurs in a large indoor space, such as a warehouse or distribution center
  • Warehouses may not always be climate-controlled, so workers might experience hot or cold temperatures depending on the season
  • Moderate to high noise levels due to machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and trucks
  • May be required to deliver supplies to schools or pick up materials from other facilities
  • Frequent lifting of items typically ranging from 25 to 50 pounds; heavier lifting may be required occasionally
