About the role
Location: Cargill Cedar Rapids
Salary range: $19–$22 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Work with personnel in a team-oriented, safety-conscious environment; adhere to “Safety First” expectations including PJHA process, Observation process, and all company/site safety guidelines and procedures.
- Use SAP for creation of shopping carts, SES, tracking POs, receiving goods, etc.
- Receive and inspect all incoming shipments from couriers, freight, and delivery services; check for damage and shortages before receiving.
- Compare manufacturer part numbers with CMMS inventory system descriptions and POs to ensure receipt of correct parts.
- Record purchase order number, vendor name, items, and addressee on the receiver log daily for every package.
- Coordinate return shipments to vendors for incorrect parts or stock overages; verify with supervisor prior to returning.
- Ensure all parts are placed in the correct storage location.
- Create “job kits” for work orders; ensure all parts from a PO go to the same kit and kit location.
- Return parts from kitted work orders to stock or vendor; verify with supervisor.
- Prepare parts removed from equipment for shipping as soon as possible; track on a spreadsheet.
- Perform pickups of outgoing shipments as necessary.
- Operate material-handling equipment such as forklifts, carts, and hand trucks.
- Perform job kitting and ensure all parts are identified and kitted for scheduled work.
- Contribute to team effort; perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Ensure compliance with all company and customer regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Meet performance expectations set forth in performance appraisals, including employee development planning.
- Maintain positive customer and employee relations.
- Communicate with team members to assist in short- and long-range planning aligned with company goals.
- Meet physical requirements of the job.
- Perform accurate administrative duties including time accounting, work order completion, job planning, ordering materials, and updating the maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Work with Supervisor and Planner to ensure all jobs are kitted and ready for completion.
- Allocate resources as required, coordinate shutdowns, and contact vendors for plant and maintenance requirements.
Requirements
- AA degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred but not required.
- Warehouse experience preferred but not required.
- SAP experience preferred but not required.
Physical demands
- Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet).
- Control precision: quickly and repeatedly adjust machine or vehicle controls to exact positions.
- Manual dexterity: quickly grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
- Substantial lifting (up to 50 pounds).
- Ability to move for extended or continuous periods of time.
- Ability to ascend and descend staircases, ladders, and/or step stools.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment safely.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other vehicles safely.
- Ability to wear a respirator while performing job duties.
- Communication/expression: ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Information ordering: ability to arrange things or actions in a specific order or pattern according to rules.
Work environment
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
