What You'll Do
- Affords communication of responsibilities and production requirements to the workers on the plant floor.
- Conducts weld checks on product during process and adjusts or changes tools as necessary.
- Troubleshoots problems throughout the plant at all work centers.
- Maintains attendance and tardiness of all shop workers to ensure customer requirements can be satisfied.
- Assumes supervisory responsibilities when the Production Supervisor is absent.
- Interacts interdepartmentally for production needs.
- Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
- Performs visual quality checks.
- Ensures that production schedules are achieved.
- Ensures that production is performed in an efficient and competent manner.
- Operates and monitors equipment such as forklifts, powered hand tools, and overhead cranes.
- Communicates with management and supervisors as required.
- Absorbs responsibility for lifting objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
- Maintains a high level of physicality for prolonged periods and working primarily standing.
- Works overtime as needed.
- Maintains clean, safe, and organized work areas on production floors.
- Participates in daily safety meetings and safety committees/initiatives.
- Trains, guides, and assists co-workers as needed.
- Reads and interprets fabrication drawings, production manuals, and work instructions.
- Fulfills other duties as required or assigned.
What You'll Need
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Basic facilities maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with heavy manufacturing processes.
- Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other mobile/heavy equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and verify dimensional requirements.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office.
- Ability to learn new MRP systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong dependability and attendance.
