About the role
Responsible for managing and directing all activities within the Georgia Nut Plant Warehouse that produce Ready to Eat and further-processed products for public consumption. The Warehouse Supervisor leads a Continuous Improvement philosophy and embraces Lean culture principles. The department includes up to 10 multi-cultural non-union employees operating in a 24/7 environment. Coordinates the distribution and movement of goods including Malt Ball, Coffee Beans, fruit and nuts, and various-sized confection items. Ensures material handling equipment is properly repaired and running efficiently, and maintains a focused, motivated workforce.
Responsibilities
- Oversee up to 10 direct reports covering a 7-day operation within one building.
- Attend daily production, labor planning, safety, and management meetings.
- Attend weekly staffing and management meetings to communicate departmental achievements and goals.
- Own safety, quality, labor efficiency, productivity, and housekeeping within the department.
- Direct and lead departmental continuous improvement initiatives.
- Direct and lead departmental continued education and internal training programs.
- Enforce company policies within the department in a fair and consistent manner.
- Contribute warehouse information to strategic plans and reviews; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolve problems; identify warehouse system improvements.
- Ensure departmental payroll is completed in a timely manner.
- Analyze and initiate alternatives for labor, material, and inventory control cost savings.
- Ensure departmental compliance with governmental regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOL).
- Ensure departmental compliance with Georgia Nut Company food safety programs (e.g., HACCP, SQF, Allergen Control Documentation).
- Oversee the hiring, discipline, termination, and structured training of all direct reports within the department.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of increasing supervisory responsibilities in a distribution environment.
- Advanced communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Advanced computer skills, proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Advanced computer skills within an ERP system.
- Advanced knowledge of current food safety regulations.
- Advanced interpersonal skills and a management style that maximizes employee empowerment, development, and retention.
- Advanced time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to measure and monitor processes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, waste, downtime, and material consumption.
- Develop, coach, and mentor (team-building).
- Identify material variances and provide continuous improvement suggestions.
- Develop departmental goals and objectives that support Georgia Nut Company KPIs.
