Warehouse Supervisor

About the Role

Our Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will oversee department functions and associates while maintaining production standards for receiving or shipping departments. This position manages all daily issues and projects under the direction of the Operations Manager and collaborates with all Distribution Center Departments, Transportation, and Inventory Management to ensure the timely and safe movement of product.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shipping schedules for production and properly plan for mixed product loads.
• Resolve questions regarding shipping schedules or product unavailable for shipment as scheduled.
• Administer reconsignment of freight, refusals, problems with delivery, returned merchandise, etc.
• Oversee receiving, verifying, and stocking inbound materials.
• Coordinate shipment logistics with outside freight companies.
• Maintain documentation of the shipping and receiving function.
• Create purchase orders for vendors (e.g., grinder, plater) and expedite until receipt of services/goods.
• Maintain warehouse record-keeping on raw materials and parts inventory.
• Supervise records of damaged or defective items, discrepancies in quantities and weights, and log time, date, quantity, source, and destination of materials received or shipped.
• Identify and resolve TMS and RDC systems issues and reporting requirements.
• Supervise a team of employees to ensure orders are pulled, packed, converted, shipped, loaded, and received accurately and free from visible damage or defect.
• Operate a variety of material handling equipment (e.g., lifting platforms, forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks).

Requirements

• 1-3 years of successful supervisory/management experience to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as assess new talent.
• 1-3 years of related job experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• Basic experience with simple office/operational systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills.
• Experience planning, managing, and organizing resources within short/medium timescales.
• Strong planning and organization skills.
• High School Diploma/GED (preferred).

Working Conditions

• Regularly work in a non-climate-controlled warehouse with exposure to cold, heat, damp, or humid conditions.
• Exposure to loud noise, dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, twist, and carry up to 50–75 pounds; manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds using a pallet jack.
• Walk and stand throughout the warehouse, including when operating order pickers, reach trucks, or cutters.
• Sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.
• Lift items weighing from a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Stoop or bend at the waist when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor-level locations.
• Kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor-level locations.
