About the role
Supervise and coordinate activities of workers involved in receiving, storing, transporting, shipping, transloading, and inventory of products.
Responsibilities
- Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
- Revise schedules according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers and equipment.
- Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Distribute paperwork for products to be picked or processed.
- Answer questions regarding pick lists, bills of lading, and bin replenishment.
- Advise employees on care of goods received, stored, and shipped; proper use of equipment; and related problems.
- Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety; maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Review production schedules and related information; confer with department supervisors and/or managers to determine timetables for timely shipping of products.
- Confer with supervisors and other department supervisors to monitor work progress and provide information on timely shipping of customers' products.
- Coordinate warehouse activities with other department heads.
- Contact carriers by phone regarding pickup schedules and follow-ups.
- Coordinate workflow for staffing agency associates by checking them in and out, demonstrating tasks, and explaining how they are to be accomplished.
- Monitor and evaluate individual work performance; make recommendations regarding continued temporary work or consideration for employment.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Work cooperatively with others and interact appropriately with employees and customers.
- Use a computer for tasks such as email communication and report preparation.
- Review and analyze data and information.
- Plan, prioritize, and monitor activities to complete assigned tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Five years of related experience as a warehouse supervisor and/or lead.
- Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets and Warehouse/Yard Management Systems is helpful.
