Warehouse Supervisor

About the role

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees warehouse activities including shipping/receiving and inventory maintenance. They also manage the recruitment and hiring of warehouse personnel, labor planning, workload allocation, performance appraisals, and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist in daily warehouse and shipping areas
• Manage the periodic maintenance of all equipment, fixtures, and fabric on warehouse premises
• Develop and maintain a productive work team through training and professional development
• Establish, maintain, and promote high standards of customer service
• Liaise with drivers, customers, and warehouse personnel
• Maintain effective internal control over product flow and inventory
• Manage and maintain adherence to both customer and company standard operating procedures to allow the accurate, timely, and safe handling of goods
• Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
• Recommend measures to improve the quality of service and increase efficiency of department
• Participate in the selection process of new personnel, train incoming personnel
• Other duties as assigned by Warehouse Management

Requirements

• Broad knowledge of warehouse operations
• Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels regarding supervision, counseling, and discipline
• Strong leadership and management skills
• Able to effectively prioritize and delegate work
• Proficient with computers
• Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications
• Single-double, clamp, and other specialized forklift attachment experience preferred
• Forklift certification
• At least 4 years experience managing within a warehouse environment
• At least 3 years experience operating a forklift
• High school diploma

Qualifications

• Must wear goggles, gloves, and vest when required
• Work in a non-heated/air-conditioned warehouse throughout all seasons
• Subjected to outside environmental conditions
• Adhere to strict safety regulations
