About the role
The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily operations in the warehouse, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety in all inventory and logistics processes. This role manages warehouse staff, optimizes workflow, and maintains compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Key responsibilities include supervising warehouse activities, leading and mentoring staff, ensuring inventory accuracy, maintaining a safe environment, monitoring shipping and receiving processes, operating and overseeing warehouse equipment, implementing process improvements, and conducting frequent audits.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials.
- Lead and mentor warehouse staff, providing training and performance feedback.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counting and proper documentation.
- Maintain a safe and organized warehouse environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Monitor shipping and receiving processes to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Collaborate with other departments, including procurement and production, to optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Operate and oversee the maintenance of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Ensure that work is performed safely, and that proper use of PPE is adhered to in the area.
- Lead by example through 5S Methodology.
- Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
- Operates a forklift truck when necessary.
- Communicates with management about any inventory issues.
- Works with management if products are missing or damaged within a shipment.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the manufacturing warehouse field with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Previous experience in warehouse supervision or logistics management.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment and enforce safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
- Advanced understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to motivate a team to accomplish objectives.
- Ability to solve conflicts among coworkers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
- Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
- Forklift operator certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and warehouse best practices.
- Strong knowledge of shipping, receiving, and logistics processes, including freight and carrier coordination.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting, standing, and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach items both high and low.
