About the Role

To direct and promote continuous improvement and best practices in all aspects of Distribution Operations under the direction of the Distribution Operations Manager. Support Air & Ocean Container Freight Station (CFS), Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), Distribution, Crossborder, and all Interdepartmental Distribution Operations. This is achieved through meeting internal company Key Performance Indexes (KPIs), exceeding customer service expectations, and operating in a safe and compliant manner.

Plan, organize, and control the input, movement, process/sort, and output of operations to ensure high service and quality at minimal cost. Responsible for selecting, training, and developing a staff of 1 to 15 direct reports. Make professional recommendations to management regarding workflow improvements and results. Directly involved in implementing FedEx Trade Networks standard operating procedures (SOP) and ensuring these standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in staff development through daily oversight and hands-on training.
  • Communicate serious client problems, freight delays, or misroutes to management immediately.
  • Develop and review costs for all Distribution Operational activities.
  • Advise management of safety issues or equipment/building concerns.
  • Maintain contact with internal and external customers regarding service levels.
  • Oversee operations of the air export gateway in the absence of the gateway manager.
  • Ensure all carrier allocations are maintained (site-specific).
  • Oversee movement and activities of related products to maximize efficiency.
  • Work closely with distribution management to ensure proper cargo handling, screening, and carrier lockout compliance (site-specific).
  • Conduct meetings to provide employees with daily operational, health, and safety information.
  • Apply consistent administration of disciplinary procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, reports, payroll, performance reviews, and personnel records.
  • Ensure cost-effectiveness through control of equipment, utilities, and supplies.
  • Assist with safety and security of distribution inventory and associates by complying with government regulations (OSHA, state/local fire department, US DOT, hazardous materials, Customs Border Patrol, Homeland Security).
  • Implement and maintain safety methods and programs.
  • Instruct employees on methods to instill a service-conscious attitude and minimize service failures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year associate’s or college degree preferred (or equivalent in business).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Distribution, Warehousing, Shipping, International Freight Forwarding, or Transportation Industry.
  • Strong knowledge of International and Domestic Distribution Operational activities.
  • Minimum 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Strong management, human relations, interpersonal, and communication (written/verbal) skills.
  • General knowledge of safety awareness within an operational division.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. regularly and maneuver packages with appropriate equipment.
  • Knowledge of WMS-EDI within the Distribution industry.
  • Certified on all Machine Handling Equipment (MHEs) within the facility (forklifts, yard hostler, pickers, reach-trucks—propane and electric).
  • TSA Certified to operate within a CCSF (if applicable).
  • Strong knowledge of CFS and FTZ Operations (site-specific) preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IATA, IMDG, and 49CFR DG Regulations preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sales and 3rd Party Warehouse Management.
  • Experience with Savannah Ocean Ports.

Pay

This compensation range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for this role: $4,720.84 – $9,196.37 USD monthly. Actual starting pay is determined by experience, market level, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Schedule

Typical day shift hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but may vary based on business needs.
