Responsibilities
- Supervise all assigned shipping and receiving personnel.
- Daily routing of all TL and LTL shipments and inbound and outbound transfers.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts for finished goods and raw materials; ensure all required reports are accurately completed and processed.
- Work with freight carriers to resolve delivery problems, lost freight, and related issues.
- Collaborate with Customer Service to trace shipments and correct shipping errors.
- Provide guidance and assistance to all Warehouse personnel.
- Monitor and enforce R.C. Bigelow Safety and Health policies and procedures, including routine inspections of forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Review and monitor adherence to RCB policies related to inventory and shipment of product.
- Edit customer shipping activity, distribute reports, and complete paperwork.
- Enter and edit raw material paperwork transactions; print and distribute reports.
- Review production schedules to ensure materials are available for scheduled production.
- Communicate daily with corporate Customer Service and transportation vendors.
- Provide time for personnel to complete scheduled training and monitor results.
- Serve as a member of the Plant Management Team.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise employees in the Warehouse Department.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of vendors or employees.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must have vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Work Environment
The work environment is usually loud. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and frequently encounters fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock, vibration, wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
