ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Treat all coworkers with dignity and respect regardless of gender, race, national origin, age, religions, sexual orientation, or disability.
  • Interprets, assigns, and manages daily work assignments
  • Coincides with the loading of shipments in accordance with the schedule provided.
  • Aids in providing performance reviews for all warehouse associates.
  • Assumes responsibility for facility administration in the absence of the Manager and Assistant Manager.
  • Oversees employee development and interviews potential new staff.
  • Confers with associates to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Educates shipping team about customers to reduce chargebacks.
  • Assigns duties and examines work periodically for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Trouble-shoots and then resolves picking and packing errors.
  • Assists Manager with Safety Program, monthly safety meeting and walk-throughs.
  • Is responsible on a daily basis for ensuring safe warehouse procedures are being followed.
  • Ensures that proper shipping procedures are followed.
  • Verifies time sheets and authorizes overtime as required.
  • Interprets company policies to associates.
  • Supervises Special Projects.
  • Assists Warehouse Management with building security protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • 5+ years of warehouse experience.
  • 2 + years of strong supervisory/lead experience in a similar environment.
  • Forklift Certification and equipment operator certification, ability to operate machinery.
  • Previous experience working on Safety Teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills including answering questions with a brief response or provide standard information, interviewing for or discuss detailed information (with vendors or other outside customers) regarding business decisions, interviewing for or discuss detailed information (with internal customers or employees, project team members) regarding business issues, and deliver informational speeches, reports, and/or orientations before audiences and groups that include internal employees.
  • Written communication to include completing forms using a few words or numbers, writing standard documentation using established formats by writing one or two brief sentences, compose sensitive, non-routine correspondence requiring tact and diplomacy and/or complex reports or summaries for which established formats generally do not exist.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the Organization in a professional manner.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office, including Excel, WM or other similar WMS systems, (NAV would be a plus).
  • Must work well under pressure in a team environment, able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and with a high level of integrity.
  • DC operations management experience in a remote facility absent of onsite IT and HR support.
  • Problem solving and multitasking.
  • Work to improve existing systems/ procedures which periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance.

BUDGET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Responsible for controlling some expenses within a department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision of approximately 11-20 employees primarily involved in clerical, manual or semi-manual activities.
