About the Role

The Warehouse/Striker position at Coventry Lumber is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse and delivery processes. This role involves managing inventory, preparing materials for delivery, and assisting in the loading and unloading of products. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the organization and efficiency of our warehouse, which directly impacts our ability to meet customer demands. Additionally, this position requires collaboration with team members to ensure that all safety protocols are followed and that materials are handled with care. Ultimately, the goal of this role is to support the overall logistics and supply chain operations, contributing to the success of Coventry Lumber's service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 80 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Prior lumber yard experience is helpful.
  • Prior building materials experience is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with operating forklifts or other material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming materials and products, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Organize and maintain inventory in the warehouse, including proper labeling and storage.
  • Aid in preparing materials for delivery, including packing and loading onto delivery vehicles.
  • Support delivery drivers by helping with route planning and ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Move materials to and from storage areas, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts.
  • Adhere to established safety rules and regulations and follow all safety procedures; maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Treat customers, contractors, and associates courteously, considerately, and cooperatively.
  • Report customer complaints to the Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy materials, essential for daily tasks such as loading and unloading products.
  • Attention to detail is crucial for accurately inspecting incoming materials and maintaining organized inventory.
  • Communication skills are important for collaborating with team members and assisting delivery drivers effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols ensures that all operations are conducted in a safe manner, protecting both employees and products.
  • Experience with forklifts enhances efficiency in material handling and contributes to a smoother workflow.
