About the role
Rex.zone is hiring a Warehouse Robotics Engineer to design, deploy, and improve autonomous warehouse robotics systems (AMRs, robotic picking support, and fleet orchestration). You will build production-grade autonomy software and validation workflows using simulation, telemetry, and structured field testing to improve throughput, safety, and order accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Own core robotics capabilities: mapping, localization, SLAM, motion planning, and obstacle avoidance in warehouse environments
- Improve perception and sensor fusion pipelines for robust navigation in dynamic aisles and mixed human-robot traffic
- Build and maintain ROS2-based components, interfaces, and tooling for bring-up, telemetry, and remote debugging
- Develop simulation and test harnesses to reproduce edge cases and validate releases before field deployment
- Optimize fleet behavior: task allocation, traffic management, congestion control, and recovery behaviors
- Define and track metrics: route efficiency, localization accuracy, intervention rate, and mean time to recovery
- Collaborate with safety/compliance partners to implement and verify safety systems and fail-safes
Requirements
- Mid-Senior experience shipping robotics/autonomy software to production environments
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++ with practical debugging skills in distributed systems
- Hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2 and message-driven architectures
- Solid fundamentals in SLAM, localization, motion planning, and controls for mobile robots
- Experience with sensors: LiDAR, depth cameras, IMU, wheel odometry; calibration and time synchronization
- Ability to build reliable software under real-world constraints (latency, noise, failure modes, hardware variance)
Preferred Qualifications
- Warehouse automation/logistics robotics experience (WMS/WCS integration)
- Computer vision for detection, tracking, or industrial pose estimation
- Fleet management and multi-robot coordination/traffic control strategies
- Simulation platforms (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Webots) and CI for robotics testing
- Functional safety practices and risk assessments for human-robot collaboration
This is a remote, full-time position based in the US.
