About the role
The Warehouse Picker 1 is responsible for ensuring the timely and correct replenishment of product into the Vertique system towers following the best practices including the recycling of damaged cases of product.
Responsibilities
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position. Position is required to work all hours necessary to ensure operations function is fulfilled, including nights, weekends, holidays.
- This position will be responsible for filling the discharge conveyors of one cell tower with thirty lanes.
- Keep all assigned conveyor lanes full, with correct product, as dictated by the lighting system.
- Load into discharge conveyors only good conditions product, keep the conveyor rollers free of plastic or cardboard debris.
- Following the lighting System priorities, the discharge conveyor lamps must keep “GREEN”. Chase the “RED” light.
- Keep the assigned lanes running free of jams.
- Pull empty pallets, damaged product and shrink wrap out of the pick areas and move to collection areas.
- Communicate with forklift operators and system operators via radio throughout shift on status of the tower lanes (product needs, product jams, clear false discharges, empty pallet collection, damage product collection) in assigned work area.
- Identify need and assist other tower areas when appropriate.
- Recycle operations – Sort and dispose of damaged items in the respective recycle bins.
- Register all damaged items to be removed from inventory in the damaged logs.
- Sanitation – Maintain cleanliness of equipment and building. The areas must be clean and always organized. Must be swept and clean of all trash, pallet pieces, and all debris. Trash must be dumped. Mop as needed, any product spill to keep the floors clean and dry.
- Proper handling of packaging products, no rough handling.
- Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injuries and follow the safety Central HUB guidelines.
- Required to follow the Good Manufacturing Program GMPs as listed in Code of Federal Regulations CFR 21 section 110. Requires participation in various Food Safety related training that Buffalo Rock utilizes. Required to report potential issues related to Food Safety.
- Other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
- Skills: Must be able to read product packaging and communicate in English via radio.

Work environment:
Working conditions will require both inside warehouse needs and outside. Temperature conditions will vary from extreme heat to extreme cold.
Physical demands:
- Lift/Carry: O (Occasionally)
- Periodic lifting above shoulder height
- Move and stack pallets weighing up to 65 pounds throughout shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, reach and climb up and down stairs throughout shift.
- Vision (Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth). Must be able to distinguish between red, green, and “off” lights.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and warm environment, especially during summer months.
- Sense of Sound - Hearing is required for the total workday.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – high visibility shirt or safety vest, slip resistant shoes, mask, eye protection, etc.
- Position requires physical presence within Vertique system at the Central Hub.
