Warehouse Pallet Repairer - 1st Shift

About the Role

Ryder is hiring permanent full‑time Skilled and Construction Laborers for its warehouse manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. The position involves pallet repair using state‑of‑the‑art equipment in a safety‑focused environment.

Pay

Hourly rate: $18.00 per hour, paid weekly.

Responsibilities

• Safely and securely repair pallets at a rate that meets company standards and in a manner that meets company safety standards.
• Operate a pry bar to detach damaged boards from the pallets.
• Operate a hammer, grinder, and a saw to remove existing nails and use a 25 lb nail gun to nail together the components.
• Manually lift 70 lb pallets from a stack to a repair table.
• Ensure pallets meet and pass CHEP’s quality control audit.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety.
• Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
• Wear all required safety equipment while repairing pallets.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 0 to 1 year in carpentry or construction background preferred.
• Ability to comprehend basic math.
• Ability to operate power tools in a safe manner.
• Must be able to follow the repair process.
• Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch frequently.
• Must be able to use proper techniques to lift a minimum of 75 lb.
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8‑hour day).
• Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements.
• Some positions require additional screening, including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer‑specific background requirements.
