Pallet Repairer 1st Shift

Ryder is hiring permanent full-time Skilled and Semi-Skilled Construction Laborers for our warehouse manufacturing facility in Kapolei, Hawaii.

Pay

$26.00 per hour, paid weekly.

Schedule

1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

About the role

Ryder Warehouse Associates work in clean, organized, and well-run facilities to provide the safest supply chain environment. Products handled include pallets. Equipment used includes hammers, pry bars, and power tools such as nail guns, grinders, and saws.

Responsibilities

• Use a pneumatic nail gun, powered saw, and other powered/hand tools to repair or assemble pallets.
• Place pallets on repair table, remove defective boards, replace with new boards, and secure boards into place.
• Stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours) and lift up to 75 pounds throughout the entire shift.
• Safely and securely repair pallets at a rate that meets company standards and in a manner that meets company safety standards.
• Operate a pry bar to detach damaged boards from the pallets.
• Operate a hammer, grinder, and a saw to remove existing nails and use a 25 lb nail gun to nail together the components.
• Manually lift 70 lb pallets from a stack to a repair table.
• Ensure pallets meet and pass CHEP's quality control audit.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety and comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
• Wear all safety equipment while repairing pallets.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 0 to 1 year in carpentry or construction background preferred.
• Ability to comprehend basic math.
• Ability to operate power tools in a safe manner.
• Must be able to follow repair process.
• Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level, and crouch on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to use proper techniques to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
• Capable of standing and walking for extended periods of time (at least 2 hours straight, four times in an 8-hour day).
• Able to use hands and feet simultaneously and perform repetitive movements.
