About the role

This hands-on role involves safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations. You will work with a variety of products, equipment, and processes in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail matters.

Responsibilities

  • Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars
  • Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses
  • Climb up tanks, tankers, and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load
  • Inspect tanks, tankers, and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations
  • Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages
  • Perform product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel
  • Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs and record amounts of product received or distributed via computer program
  • Pick and stage product for delivery in accordance with customer orders or instructions
  • Operate powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) and maintain daily forklift checklist
  • Move raw materials to production areas and finished products to the warehouse
  • Lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances
  • Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking
  • Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment:
    • Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails, or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations
    • Ensure proper labeling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements
    • Give special attention to packaging, loading, and storing of food grade and USP items
  • Operate electronic scale and process devices
  • Carefully store hazardous waste drums in compliance with hazardous waste regulations
  • Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage
  • Rearrange stored materials and assist in counting physical inventory
  • Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible, and safe for all visitors and workers
  • Report and clean up spills immediately
  • Protect property from theft or damage
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience
  • Candidates with prior experience in chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met
  • Possess or able to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate safe forklift operation
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence
  • Basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
  • Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs, and operational technology equipment
  • Meet or exceed production requirements based on information or equipment used
  • Wear safety equipment as prescribed by the company and comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks
  • Participate in ongoing safety programs, including safety meetings and trainings
  • Available to work any days of the week, any assigned 8-12 hour shift, including overtime or weekends as needed
  • Good safety and attendance record
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other departments and personnel
  • Observe, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Pass E-verify check
  • Capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities (applicable to MTSA sites only)

Physical Requirements

  • Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator
  • Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material
  • Able to utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasks
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time, up to 95% of the day
  • Able to operate standing and sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and drum pickers
  • Able to climb stairs and ladders to the top of tanks, tankers, and railcars
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time), sometimes in extreme conditions
