About the role

The Warehouse Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently handling liquid and dry chemical products, ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout all warehouse and transfer operations.

Responsibilities

  • Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars.
    • Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses
    • Climb up tanks, tankers and railcars to open/close top hatches and monitor load
    • Inspect tanks, tankers and railcars before and after loading/unloading operations
    • Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages
    • Product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel
    • Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs. Record amounts of product received or distributed via appropriate computer program
    • Pick and stage product for delivery in accordance with specifications on customer orders or other instructions
    • Operation of powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product in the warehouse, and maintain daily forklift checklist
    • Move raw materials to the production area and move finished products to the warehouse
    • Able to lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets varying distances
    • Able to stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking within operating areas and warehouses
    • Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment. This work is physical and requires attention to detail:
      • Fill cylinders, drums, totes, pails or tankers with product and route to prescribed storage locations making sure of proper labelling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to company and regulatory requirements
      • Give special attention to packaging, loading and storing of food grade and USP items
      • Operate electronic scale and process devices
      • Carefully store hazardous waste drums in the prescribed area in full compliance with hazardous waste regulations
  • Inventory management:
    • Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage
    • Rearrange stored materials
    • Absorb and count physical inventory
  • General maintenance:
    • Ensure warehouse is clean, accessible and safe for all visitors and workers
    • Protect property from theft or damage
  • Other duties as assigned, including mixing and blending as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience
  • Candidates with prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met
  • Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely
  • Ability to read, comprehend and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
  • Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc. to carry out normal business operations
  • Meet or exceed production requirements based on information and or equipment used in the course of work performance
  • Wear safety equipment as prescribed by company
  • Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks

  • Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smart phones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc. to carry out normal business operations
  • Meet or exceed production requirements based on information and or equipment used in the course of work performance
  • Wear safety equipment as prescribed by company
  • Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks
