About the role

This role is part of Alcon's Supply Chain function, a team that manages the logistics, inventory management, and supply chain analytics for Alcon's industry-leading products to ensure products are delivered efficiently and effectively so that people can see brilliantly. The Warehouse Operations Systems Technician is primarily responsible for supporting warehouse operations by assisting with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) implementation, configuration, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Configures systems and necessary specifications that address system requirements, processes, and operational requirements.
  • Revises existing systems and tests functionality of the system to correct deficiencies and maintain more effective processes, data integrity, conversion, and/or input/output requirements.
  • Documents testing and maintenance of system updates, modifications, and configurations.
  • Works on systems analysis, systems management, and systems implementation projects.
  • Works under strict deadlines and high workloads independently to complete necessary tasks.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and assists in system enhancements.
  • Documents, interprets, and translates user needs and issues into functional requirements for system capabilities and reporting.
  • Analyzes and researches challenges that provide information for management to make effective business decisions related to the deployment of system resources.
  • Provides data analysis of business needs.
  • Trains work group members on specific tasks and business and technical processes.
  • Advises others on systems analysis, configuration, or systems administration tasks.
  • Responsible for the operations, applications, and regulatory compliance related to IT Systems implemented at the local facilities.
  • Advises others on systems analysis, programming, or systems administration tasks, and serves as a technical contact for a facility.
  • Ensures the accurate, timely, and quality shipment of orders and finished orders to Pharmaceutical/Consumer customers.
  • Makes decisions related to day-to-day tasks and issues within assigned projects, working under the guidance of senior team members for more complex decisions.
  • Proficient in the use of key logistics operating systems and technology to effectively coordinate day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • 3 Years of Relevant Experience

Work hours: 2nd shift; Monday-Friday; 11am-8pm

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with RedPrairie, JDA, or BlueYonder Warehouse Management System
  • Knowledge of SQL and Oracle DB
  • Experience with Knapp Automation (a plus)
