About the Role
We are hiring positive, highly productive, safety-minded, and team-oriented associates to join our team at the Waterfront Thrift Store in Pensacola, FL. This full-time Warehouse Material Handler position involves working up to 40 hours per week, primarily receiving donations at the intake area.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service while assisting customers and donors
- Genuine customer greeting with eye contact
- Accept donations according to WRM guidelines
- Assist with loading or unloading
- Sort hard lines and soft lines donations into labeled Gaylord containers
- Unload truck contents and place in designated area
- Load designated shipments onto RDC trucks
- Process recyclables and remove waste/recycled items according to Waterfront Rescue Mission guidelines
- Empty trash containers
- Dispose of unsaleable donations according to recycling guide
- Practice all safety standards and procedures as outlined by WRM
- Use proper lifting techniques and tools for lifting merchandise
- Avoid tripping hazards by keeping the area clutter-free
- Report safety variances to the Manager on Duty
- Some travel may be necessary for training and temporary duty
- Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other Mission management
Requirements
- Must respect and uphold the mission and values of the ministry, demonstrating high ethics, honesty, and character
- Ability to read and write, with up to one month of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Florida driver’s license or valid photo identification card
- Must be insurable by the WRM’s insurance carrier if driving is an essential function of the position
- Ability to adjust timing (speed of handling) and placement of donations as volume and frequency change throughout the day

- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to talk or hear and taste or smell
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include depth perception
