Job Summary The Warehouse Materials Handler supports the Housing Department by receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, and equipment needed for maintenance, construction, and renovation activities. This role ensures accurate inventory tracking, timely delivery of supplies, and safe, organized warehouse operations. Responsibilities Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies for accuracy and qualityStore items in designated warehouse locations using proper organization and safety proceduresPick, pack, and issue materials to maintenance staff and contractors based on work orders or requests.Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems or manual logsPerform regular cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory auditsOperate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (as certified)Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficientlyMaintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the warehouse and storage areasMonitor stock levels and notify supervisors of shortages or reorder needsAssist in coordinating deliveries to job sites or housing facilitiesFollow all safety procedures, policies, and regulations related to material handling and storageSupport emergency or urgent material needs for housing operations Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience). Warehouse Materials Handler, I: Requires little to no related experience. Preferences Basic knowledge of inventory management practicesAbility to use warehouse management or inventory tracking systemsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a teamGood communication and customer service skills when supporting internal staffAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularlyFrequent standing, walking, bending, and reachingAbility to operate warehouse equipment safelyComfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, including varying temperatures Special Instructions Interviews for this role will be completed in-person at the University of Utah.
