About the role
Southwire Company, LLC is one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers, manufacturing building wire and cable, utility products, metal-clad cable, portable and electronic cord products, OEM wire products, and engineered products. The Warehouse Associate Manufacturing 2 is a high-skill role responsible for unloading raw material, maintaining raw material and WIP zones, coordinating product flow, and loading finished goods. This role also involves using SAP/Advaris to maintain up-to-date inventory records. In the Carrollton Rod Mill, employees will apply printed tags to finished coil packages and operate forklifts to transport copper rod coils.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload finished products, scrap, and miscellaneous items from trucks
- Bill out trucks of finished product, scrap, and miscellaneous items for shipment
- Receive and unload incoming trucks with raw materials, packaging, and miscellaneous items
- Receive finished product into the finished goods warehouse
- Receive, weigh, and tag scrap and defective strip from the production floor
- Notify lab personnel of changes in material loaded into the furnace (Rod Mill)
- Assist operators in performing their duties
- Log information into SAP/Advaris
- Maintain housekeeping and orderliness of finished goods and raw material warehouses
- Identify and tag material such as rod, bare strand, and t-wire
- Allocate material from restocking zones to ship-out zones
- Maintain supply of pallets for palletizer (Rod Mill)
- Refuel and initiate maintenance on forklifts (Rod Mill)
- Maintain empty metal tubs at crop bar chute when out of the mill (Rod Mill)
- Tag material and finished product (Rod Mill)
- Perform periodic refractory unit maintenance, which may require using a jackhammer, oxygen lance rod, or oxygen fuel torch (Rod Mill)
- Assist with out-of-mill duties, including roughing/finishing mill, pickling lines, casting, and crane operation (Rod Mill)
- Do not release products until all quality checks are passed
- Perform quality checks and minor maintenance as outlined in process procedures
- Report quality issues to supervisors or quality managers
- Use the company’s ISO Quality System documentation for daily quality activities
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must read, write, and speak English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus
- Experience using Microsoft Office
- Knowledge/experience using SAP/Advaris
- Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs
- Must be able to follow instructions
- Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods
- Must be certified to operate mobile equipment and overhead crane (Rod Mill)
- Must be a Southwire certified lift driver
Cross Training
- Required to cross-train on equipment within your identified workgroup at the facility
- Once trained in more complex jobs, may be required to fill positions in the event of absence or vacancy
- Required to rotate within your workgroup on a set frequency to maintain skill proficiency
Physical/Environmental Demands
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments typically found in a prefabricated building without climate control
- Physical activities include: balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking, and sitting
Pay
$24.34 – $25.89 per hour
Schedule
3rd Shift (Sunday – Thursday, 10:50 PM – 7:00 AM)
