About the role

The Warehouse Manager at our Ogden, Utah site ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of Balchem’s warehousing facilities. This role oversees inventory control, warehouse personnel, logistics coordination, and staffing to support operational and business needs while adhering to Company safety policies, Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Responsibilities

• Continuous Improvement & Efficiency: Collaborate with shipping, receiving, production, quality, and logistics teams to identify operational bottlenecks and drive a culture of continuous improvement. Evaluate, develop, and obtain proposals for warehouse-related capital improvements to optimize site performance.
• Environmental and Safety:
  • Direct the proper and compliant identification, storage, handling, transport, and disposal of all waste (hazardous/non-hazardous and plant chemicals) in accordance with EPA, RCRA, and local regulations.
  • Ensure safe working conditions in compliance with Company policies, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain working knowledge of plant environmental and safety programs, including DOT hazardous materials shipping, hazard communication, spill response, accident/injury reporting, vehicle movement, contractor management, emergency evacuation, lockout/tagout, and ladder safety.
  • Oversee warehouse equipment operation/maintenance (PITs) and enforce strict adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines to mitigate occupational safety risks.
• Regulatory Compliance and Food Safety:
  • Maintain warehouse locations in a constant state of audit readiness for external, internal, and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure 100% adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), QC/QA protocols, FDA regulations, and SQF/HACCP food safety standards.
• Inventory Management and Material Flow:
  • Oversee shipping and receiving teams to manage raw materials and finished goods, ensuring accuracy and lean material movement.
  • Direct end-to-end inventory accuracy, cycle counting programs, and comprehensive reconciliation processes.
• Workforce and Facilities Management:
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and manage warehouse personnel to foster a high-performing, safe, and positive team environment.
  • Schedule, deploy, and align warehouse staff cost-effectively to minimize overtime while meeting operational demands.
  • Direct everyday facilities management tasks, implement ergonomic principles, and coordinate physical plant maintenance.
• Multiple Site Management:
  • Oversee and reconcile inventory across internal and external warehouse locations to support broader supply chain needs.
  • Manage third-party warehouses and coordinate strategic shuttle transportation between facilities for regional alignment.

Requirements

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related technical discipline (equivalent experience considered).
  • 7 to 10 years of related experience, preferably in warehouse management within a food, beverage, or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Technical & Regulatory Knowledge:
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, SQF standards, FDA regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with warehouse inventory systems and MRP/ERP platforms preferred.
• Core Competencies:

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl using proper ergonomic principles.
• Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift 60 pounds or more using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
• Operates computers, material handling equipment (MHE), and various measurement devices.
• May be exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, elevated noise levels, vibration, extreme temperatures, fumes, airborne particles, and plant chemicals.
