About the role

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Manager Warehouse is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the warehouse, shipping and receiving area. The Warehouse Manager ensures that customer needs are met through the timely and efficient movement of products and materials in a high volume, fast-paced distribution environment. This role will also support cost control including overtime, management and expense control.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and ensure compliance to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.
  • Lead and direct the work of other employees and have responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination.
  • Provide training, direction and instruction and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Provide guidance and training on work standards and expected outcomes.
  • Be accountable for planning and evaluating performance, staff training and development, recruitment and may contribute to pay recommendations.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of the warehouse and establish and maintain budget control.
  • Develop the team and continuously improve the performance of all team members by setting clear and challenging goals and objectives.
  • Maintain strong links with 3rd party suppliers through regular meetings and ensure that any issues are being addressed.
  • Ensure that all stock issues are resolved and feedback to relevant managers on key performance indicators such as accuracy, performance, output and efficiency.
  • Manage stock destruction and aged stock removal process.
  • Ensure warehouse personnel are responsible for duties such as good housekeeping, stock counts, and where appropriate movement of stock through use of pallet truck or forklift truck.
  • Establish priorities and direct loading workforce to satisfy customer demand.
  • Plan and execute logistics needs with trucking firms to ensure timely pick-up and delivery of shipments, while minimizing overall freight costs.
  • Review and resolve operational problems to minimize cost and prevent operational delays.
  • Negotiate trucking contracts with relevant parties to ensure freight costs are competitive.
  • Be responsible for the security of the product and warehouse.
  • Handle all damaged product orders and monitor status of returned products.
  • Communicate with manufacturing personnel to ensure appropriate materials are available to meet production requirements.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and SOPs to ensure consistent quality and operating efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT and other safety regulatory agencies, as well as maintaining the material handling equipment, ensuring that all warehouse personnel are certified on equipment.
  • Represent the company in a positive manner at all times.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field is required.
  • APICS designation is a plus.
  • 5+ years work experience in warehouse logistics management, distribution center and/or beverage background strongly preferred.
  • Verifiable experience building and developing teams is required.

  • Safety and Risk Management: Participation in safety audits and inspections to ensure a safe working environment.

Schedule

  • Weekdays, weekends, afternoon, evenings, overnight and holidays may be required.

Working conditions

  • Operating in a fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts.
  • Noise level requires hearing protection and temperatures can get very hot and/or relatively cold.
  • The environment is structured and supervised.
  • Travel anticipated: Rarely
  • Visual/Sensory: This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Coordination and Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise control of equipment.
  • Mental Stress: There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy and/or similar demands.
