Warehouse Manager
Role Overview
The Warehouse Manager, located in University Park, Illinois, and reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director, is a key figure in the management of warehouse operations. This role is essential in overseeing critical functions such as shipping, receiving, and inventory management. The position demands a unique combination of leadership qualities and hands-on participation, ensuring the warehouse operates efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including shipping, receiving, storage, and distribution of goods.
- Manage and supervise the shipping and receiving functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Track, coordinate, and ensure efficient handling of all shipments and deliveries, maintaining accurate records.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures for incoming and outgoing goods.
- Manage the warehouse staff, ensuring effective operation, employee performance, and development, including training in shipping and receiving protocols.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse layout for efficient shipping and receiving operations, including rebalancing fast moving and slow-moving inventory.
- Ensure transactional excellence.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain Director to align warehouse activities with broader supply chain objectives.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Analyze and improve warehouse processes and systems for better efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Cook up with the production teams to ensure timely supply and movement of materials and finished products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Critical Competencies for Success
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in management within a warehouse setting.
- A proven track record of process improvement and change management.
- Organizational agility.
- Proven experience in warehouse management, with a strong focus on shipping and receiving operations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of directing a diverse team and liaising effectively with other departments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple functions within the warehouse.
- Knowledge of best practices in warehouse logistics, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution.
- Proficiency in warehouse management systems and software relevant to shipping and receiving processes, with familiarity in ERP systems, particularly Oracle EBS.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing operational demands.
Pay Range
Pay range: $85k-$105k Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
