Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of up to three warehouse/driver associates.
- Participate in hiring process and conduct formal performance evaluations.
- Approve timecards and create schedules as necessary.
- Ensure warehouse security, maintain equipment and vehicles, and ensure their safe use.
- Follow federal, state, and local regulations for warehousing, shipping, and material handling.
- Create systems for organization and communication, ensuring efficient space utilization.
- Maintain health and safety standards, including safety training certifications and staff safety.
- Read customer orders to determine items to be gathered and distributed.
- Convey materials and items from receiving areas to storage areas.
- Sort and place materials or items on racks or other storage areas according to size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or in boxes.
- Convey orders to staging areas and/or onto trucks for delivery.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Record amount of materials or items received and distributed.
- Perform data entry of records into the computer.
- Complete requisition forms to order materials from other company locations.
- Prepare parcels for mail.
- Perform physical counts of existing inventory and maintain inventory records.
- Act as back-up when delivery driver is unavailable.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the company's insurance carrier.
- Must frequently lift and move 20 pounds, occasionally up to 75 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of warehouse experience managing hourly employees.
- Proficiency with warehouse policies and procedures.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate with all levels of company staff.
- Ability to provide effective feedback.
- Forklift driving experience is preferred.
