Metropolitan Warehouse is the growing leader in the furniture delivery industry, with multiple locations nationwide. Our mission is to ensure memories are delivered one piece of furniture at a time—on time, every time. We are seeking motivated, experienced logistics and transportation professionals to join our team in Houston, TX.
About the Role
The Houston location is a full Distribution Center with multiple business segments: Final Mile (FM), Line Haul (LH), and 3rd Party Logistics (3PL). Warehouse Managers may be assigned to specific segments but may also rotate through others based on business needs, fostering a deeper understanding of overall operations and creating synergies among departments.
Responsibilities
- Strategically manage an assigned area of responsibility in compliance with company policies and vision, including managerial oversight of warehouse and office staff across multiple shifts (7 days a week, Sunday through Saturday).
- Respond to customer emails and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain inventory accuracy, scan accuracy, and system-specific requirements for all customers within the assigned area.
- Make all employment decisions for the assigned area at the Houston, TX location.
- Ensure the operation is staffed to maximize productivity, minimize overtime, and meet Customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs) or other requirements.
- Complete warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
- Evaluate current staff for operational effectiveness (both warehouse and office).
- Ensure consistent execution of all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the assigned area.
- Produce regular reports and statistics specific to the assigned area, measuring KPIs and labor utilization.
- Direct workforce to ensure compliance with established processes and policies.
- Identify and execute Lean opportunities to eliminate waste and drive efficiencies.
- Set and maintain productivity expectations.
- Identify and drive safety improvements across the Houston Distribution Center.
- Maintain standards of health, safety, hygiene, and security.
- Perform any other responsibilities deemed necessary for the assigned area.
Requirements
- College degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of Warehouse Manager experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel).
- Understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ability to multitask.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
