Based at the Totowa, NJ warehouse; reports to the North America Logistics Director.

About the role

Lead all warehouse operations while driving a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. This strategic, results-oriented role evaluates people, processes, systems, and facility operations to identify opportunities for improvement and deliver measurable business results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, and material movement activities.
  • Develop and implement systems that ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing of orders.
  • Establish and maintain robust inventory control processes that drive inventory accuracy and product traceability by lot number across all storage locations.
  • Evaluate warehouse workflows, labor utilization, facility layout, storage strategies, and operational processes to identify opportunities for productivity gains and cost reduction.
  • Champion a culture of Continuous Improvement through Lean methodologies, root cause analysis, standard work development, waste elimination, visual management, and process optimization.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement projects focused on safety, service, quality, inventory accuracy, labor productivity, and warehouse throughput.
  • Establish meaningful operational KPIs and metrics, analyze performance trends, and drive corrective actions to achieve business objectives.
  • Build strong partnerships with Customer Service, Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, and other internal stakeholders to enhance service levels and operational effectiveness.
  • Direct efforts of warehouse Supervisors, Team Leads, and warehouse personnel while fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Coach, develop, and mentor leaders and employees to improve engagement, capability, succession readiness, and overall organizational effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular assessments of workforce performance and organizational structure to ensure the right resources, skills, and accountability mechanisms are in place.
  • Drive performance management practices, including goal setting, coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Serve as a key resource to the broader leadership team regarding strategic planning, operational improvements, and organizational development opportunities.
  • Prepare departmental operating budgets and monitor actual performance against budget while identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure training programs effectively prepare employees on equipment operation, safety requirements, GMPs, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure warehouse operations meet all applicable BRC, GMP, OSHA, food safety, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Maintain systems for tracking departmental performance, labor utilization, training compliance, and employee development.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable union agreements while maintaining productive labor relations and a positive work environment.
  • Partner with Maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and preventive maintenance programs support operational requirements.
  • Lead change management initiatives and help the organization successfully adopt new processes, technologies, and ways of working.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of warehouse, distribution, or supply chain operations experience with 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Success leading Lean, Continuous Improvement, or productivity improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing within a unionized environment preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to drive accountability, improve performance, and develop teams.
  • Microsoft Office 365 proficiency, advanced Excel skills, and experience with SAP, EWM, or similar warehouse management systems.
  • Lean Certification, Six Sigma Certification, or equivalent training preferred.

Working Environment

The warehouse is large, with open floor areas and loud machinery, requiring some areas for workers to wear ear protection to guard against noise. Workers are exposed to high temperatures during the summer months and cold environments during winter months. You will be exposed to a dusty work environment due to raw materials. Materials may contain allergens (eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, milk, fish, shellfish, wheat).

Physical Demands

The person in this position usually sits, stands, walks, kneels, bends, and reaches above and below the shoulders. Corrected vision, speaking ability, and hearing are usually involved in performing written and verbal job functions.

Pay

The anticipated compensation range for this position is $114,000 to $145,000. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type and years of experience within the industry, and education.
