About the Role

The Shipping Department Lead partners with Shift Leads to ensure the safe, efficient, and accurate execution of all shipping and receiving operations. This position serves as the department's subject matter expert and primary point of contact for resolving operational issues, coordinating daily dock activities, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Shipping Department Lead plays a key role in maintaining inventory accuracy, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and leading department employees to achieve operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Able to perform all the job duties of a Shift Lead in the areas of shipping and receiving, assigning work to their teams, as well as required paperwork and tasks
  • Ensures that all dock safety procedures are being followed
  • Manages the training program, ensuring that training is effective and tracked
  • Works with the Load Planner to ensure efficient dock scheduling
  • Ensures that shift teams follow dock schedules
  • Ensures that department personnel follow proper procedures to maintain the accuracy of all shipping and receiving operations, including outbound finished goods, blank transfers, and roll shipments, along with deliveries of roll stock, shippers, outsourced window blanks, pallets, and sundry items
  • Receives outsourced window blanks into SAP
  • Ensures that received material is picked up from staging areas by responsible parties
  • Ensures that Shift Leads are updating Open Dock with accurate status
  • Ensures that drivers are being checked in and out professionally and efficiently
  • Orders supplies as needed such as airbags and trailer seals
  • Provides timely resolution of any discovered inventory discrepancies in finished goods or blanks
  • Ensures that all office files and required documentation are maintained as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations
  • Previous experience in a lead, coordinator, or supervisory role preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, inventory control practices, dock operations, and warehouse workflows
  • Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts; current forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification upon hire
  • Experience loading, unloading, staging, and transporting materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment
  • Working knowledge of SAP, warehouse management systems (WMS), or similar ERP systems; SAP experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Physically capable of prolonged standing and full-range movement (bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely and accurately
  • Flexible schedule, including potential overtime, weekend work, or call-ins based on production needs

Pay

Starting pay rate of $24.17/hour with a shift differential pay of $0.75/hour.

Schedule

3rd shift: 11pm - 7am
