WAREHOUSE LEAD

About the role

The Warehouse Supervisor at GLS is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the warehouse, ensuring all inbound freight is processed promptly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the receiving and processing of all inbound freight, including offloading, sorting, palletizing, and loading.
• Inspect pallet quality to minimize damages and misrouted packages.
• Communicate with managers, leads, and package handlers to ensure smooth operations.
• Coordinate warehouse changes and make necessary adjustments.
• Aid in training new personnel and reviewing current/new procedures with staff.
• Estimate pallet weights to ensure trucks are within gross vehicle weight requirements.
• Communicate with inbound drivers regarding volume estimates, door assignments, and timely arrivals.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a supervisor in warehouse and transportation environments.
• Ability to lead, direct, and supervise warehouse employees.
• Basic reading, math, computer, and typing skills.
• Knowledge of major cities and zip codes in the states where GLS operates.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities.
• Work an afternoon shift, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Forklift, pallet truck, and pallet jack experience.
