About the role
This position is responsible for transportation of inventory between facilities, shipment of inventory from warehouses, and transport of product/equipment between Berry facilities and other locations under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Understand and implement all safety rules and policies regarding the use of powered industrial trucks, handling heavy equipment or material, and general warehouse safety.
- Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and report any discrepancies indicating truck condition to supervisor.
- Moving trailers and transport product between local plants and offsite warehousing using tractor trailer.
- Loading/unloading production/equipment using forktruck.
- Ensure all proper documentation and paperwork are in order to transport product and equipment.
- Hauling loads to/from Berry Princeton facilities to other locations in the area.
- Processing, setting up and shipping products from outside warehouses as well as the plant.
- Ensuring product integrity is maintained at a high level.
- Ensuring inventory accuracy is maintained.
- Providing assistance in absence of Traffic Coordinator.
- Maintaining warehouse housekeeping standards.
- Following applicable EHS, Food Safety and cGMP policies.
- Performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- Previous warehouse experience strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record and current Class A CDL license (or ability to complete requirements for CDL) is required.
- 1-2 years of experience driving a tractor-trailer is required.
- Powered industrial truck operating experience necessary.
- Computer proficiency required; specific experience with Outlook, Excel, and JDEdwards is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written required.
Reasoning Ability
The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form is required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear.
- Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
- Sometimes stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat for short periods of time throughout the shift.
- Exposure to vibration.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
