Warehouse Driver

About the role
The Warehouse Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods and materials between warehouses, customer locations, and distribution points, while supporting daily warehouse operations. This role ensures timely deliveries, accurate inventory handling, and compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. In addition to driving responsibilities, the Warehouse Driver assists with loading, unloading, inventory, and general warehouse activities to support operational efficiency and delivers exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Transportation & Delivery
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport goods to and from warehouse, customer job sites, and distribution centers
- Follow established routes and delivery schedules; adjust routes as needed to improve efficiency
- Ensure all deliveries are accurate, complete, and properly documented
- Loading, Unloading & Material Handling
- Load and unload materials in a safe and efficient manner, preventing damage or loss
- Secure cargo in accordance with safety and DOT requirements
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (as certified)
- Inventory & Warehouse Operations
- Assist with receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping inventory
- Maintain accurate records of materials received, delivered, or returned
- Participate in cycle counts and inventory audits as required
- Cleanliness & Organization
- Keep floors free of dust, debris, oil, and spills
- Maintain clear and labeled storage locations for materials
- Dispose of trash and waste promptly
- Do not store goods or equipment in pathways
- Customer Service
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, and order details
- Build and maintain positive customer relationships through reliable service and responsiveness
- Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of assigned vehicle
- Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
- Documentation & Compliance
- Complete required logs, delivery confirmations, and regulatory documentation (e.g., DOT logs, proof of delivery)
- Ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state transportation regulations
- Safety & Compliance
- Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and company safety policies
- Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, gloves, high-visibility apparel, and eye protection
- Follow all injury prevention practices and participate in return-to-work programs if applicable
- Promptly report workplace injuries, incidents, or hazards in accordance with company policy
- Participate in required safety training programs including hazard communication (HazCom), powered industrial truck (forklift) certification, and safe lifting techniques
- Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses in accordance with company policy
- Other Duties
- Support branch operations, including warehouse support as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support business need

Requirements
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse, delivery, or transportation role is highly preferred
- Experience working in a logistics, distribution, or transportation environment is highly desirable
- Licensing & Certifications
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
- Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, depending on vehicle type
- Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong attention to detail in filling orders and documentation
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and transportation regulations

- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and work independently
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while operating a vehicle
- Frequently bend, stoop, and kneel
- Occasionally climb ladders or work at heights above 15 feet
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds of tools, equipment, and materials
- Requires manual dexterity for handling small components
- Frequent walking, sitting, standing, and driving for extended periods; occasional riding as a passenger to job sites
- Ability to work at heights on ladders or elevated platforms
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in both warehouse and outdoor environments, with exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Requires regular use of warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and delivery vehicles
- Position may require flexible hours based on delivery schedules and business needs
