About the role

Assist in the safe production of quality products by ensuring parts are moved through the production process efficiently and checked for quality.

Responsibilities

  • Safely lift, move, unload, and stack material and supplies using electric or liquefied-gas powered industrial equipment such as walkies, ball carts, reach trucks, stackers, stand-up, or sit-down trucks (forklifts).
  • Visually check all incoming material, outgoing finished product, and their packaging (including skids) for damage; report any suspected damage in writing.
  • Weigh materials or products and record weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
  • Properly secure loads with seat belts or straps before moving with powered industrial trucks.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material/equipment needs.
  • Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
  • Position forks, lifting platforms, or other lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transport loads to designated areas.
  • Install protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
  • Inventory materials on the work floor and supply workers with materials as needed.
  • Deliver components and other supplies to the appropriate place on the production floor based on the production schedule and need, in a safe and timely manner.
  • Verify material in the warehouse is approved for use before pulling it from skids.
  • Record inventory transactions using the Bar Code Inventory system.
  • Perform routine inspection and refueling on powered industrial trucks, such as charging batteries or replacing liquefied-gas tanks.
  • Apply principles of 5S to assigned areas to ensure everything is organized, clean, and safe.
  • Follow all company rules and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of material handling, inventory, and quality control practices such as FIFO and lot traceability.
  • Skilled at driving powered industrial trucks by moving levers and pressing pedals.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in English to convey information effectively.
  • Minimum of 1 year driving a forklift truck is desired; must be able to become forklift certified within our environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safety, health, and environmental protection practices.
  • Able to consistently meet job attendance requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • Must be able to safely mount and dismount forklifts and operate foot and hand pedals.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Sufficient vision to see details at close range to pass inspection tests of finished parts and components.
  • Able to work in a plant environment requiring personal protection: bump cap, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel or composite-toed shoes.
  • Able to walk and stand on concrete for most of the shift.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations.

Work Environment

  • Moderate noise level; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
  • Bump caps, steel-toe safety shoes, and safety glasses are required in all production areas; hearing protection is encouraged and may be required in specific areas.
  • Jobs on the production floor require a minimum 40-hour workweek; overtime may be required.
  • Steady and fast pace of work.

Pay

Starting wage: $21.00 per hour. We offer a 3rd shift differential of $3.00 per hour. The actual base pay offered will be based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
