Warehouse/Donations Assistant
Mission
Habitat Charlotte Region partners with hundreds of families each year through affordable homeownership, home preservation and financial literacy training.
Position Purpose
Aid customers in unloading donations, loading purchases, maintaining the back room and donation dock, and ensuring safe and prompt movement of merchandise.
Essential Functions
- Ensure outstanding customer service
- Guarantee safe and prompt loading and unloading of donations and purchases
- Maintain safe procedures while moving merchandise
- Inform customers of donations acceptance policy
- Be an effective team member
- Utilize fork lift as required
- Show initiative
- Show positive and respectful attitude
- Maintain a presentable appearance
- Adhere to schedule and represent Habitat positively
Qualifications
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to move and lift up to 75 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to work outdoors in all climates
- Ability to obtain Forklift Certification and operate a forklift
- Ability to climb steps to Forklift cab
- Ability to move and stand for extended periods
Physical Demands
- Ability to move and lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to move and lift at least 75 lbs. with assistance
- Ability to work outdoors in all climates
- Ability to obtain Forklift Certification and operate a forklift on a regular basis
- Ability to climb steps to Forklift cab
- Ability to move and stand for extended periods
Work Environment
This position requires working indoors in a retail setting and outdoors in all types of weather, as well as warehouse/dock setting which may or may not be climate controlled.
Shifts
Monday-Saturday rotating schedule, with shifts beginning as early as 8:30AM and ending as late as 7PM.
Level of Authority
Requires minimal supervision and reports to Backroom Supervisor.
