Warehouse Coordinator

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Efficient management of the Town's Central Warehouse, including routine and special deliveries of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Optimizing storage space and ensuring the safekeeping of goods.
  • Collaboration with various departments to maintain correct inventory levels in department vehicles.
  • Documenting receipt of items into an automated purchasing system (City Works) with a focus on fixed asset, receipt, and inventory control.
  • Analyzing inventory movement, suggesting reorder points, and coordinating with vendors for quotes.
  • Coordinating and conducting periodic physical inventories, including the physical year formal inventory, of warehoused items.
  • Operating warehouse equipment and vehicles, including trucks and forklifts.
  • Serving walk-in customers, charging materials to proper departments.
  • Managing the inventory and disposition of surplus property, processing necessary forms and documentation.
  • Responding to phone inquiries and requests.
  • Unloading and inspecting shipments of materials, equipment, and supplies received to ensure compliance with purchase order specifications.
  • Identifying and reporting shortages, damages, and other discrepancies.
  • Performing other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Special Requirements, Education & Experience

  • Working knowledge of the principles and practices of the operations, services, and activities of central warehouse procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of warehouse recordkeeping techniques including appropriate computer-aided programs for purchase orders, fixed assets (capital and inventory), receiving, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of and skill at using warehouse equipment such as, but not limited to, forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling devices.
  • Sufficient math, language, and writing skills to document and maintain records according to departmental standards.
  • Sufficient human relations skills to maintain positive work relationships with internal customers and vendors.
  • General knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment, and electronic purchasing.
  • Sufficient general knowledge of personal computers and PC software.
  • Ability to perform the functions of the position and schedule warehouse activity in a manner conducive to proficient performance.

Education And Experience

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A certified forklift operations is preferred.
  • One year of warehouse and fixed asset control experience is preferred.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be considered.
