About the role
Operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries, and move them to and from storage areas, machines, loading docks, trucks, or storage facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate and care for trucks in a safe manner, including clamp trucks
- Complete and document clamp truck inspection forms before the start of each shift and when operating a new clamp truck; submit maintenance work orders for needed repairs
- Locate stock before the start of each run and adhere to the daily production schedule
- Make recommendations to optimize the schedule for cost, quality, delivery, and service goals
- Deliver appropriate stock to machines safely and on time
- Complete necessary paperwork and reports accurately and timely, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed
Requirements
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred
- Three years of forklift experience required
- Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities to ensure efficient operation
- Working knowledge of layouts, production specifications, and product quality specifications
- Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills
- High degree of attention to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment
- Ability to use warehouse scanners
- Must maintain a current forklift license
Physical demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle or feel
- Frequently required to talk or hear
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Work environment
- Usually loud noise levels
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions
- Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibrations
