Warehouse / CDL Route Backup Driver

About the role

Airgas is hiring for a Warehouse/Backup CDL Driver in Peoria, IL. This role involves safe loading, delivery, and handling of high-pressure and cryogenic gas cylinders while maintaining a dedicated commitment to hazardous material safety standards and DOT vehicle inspections.

Monday – Friday, start time 7 am – Home Daily. Possible weekends (on call).

Responsibilities

• Stock, label, pick, pack, and distribute materials and supplies.
• Physically receive, check, and store delivered materials in the warehouse; conduct regular inventory checks.
• Enforce policies for proper receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, reviewing invoices.
• Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
• Strictly observe safety rules and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Deliver compressed gas cylinders and liquid cylinders on a scheduled route to customers.
• Load and unload trucks, retrieve empty cylinders, and return them for refilling.
• Maintain accurate vehicle documentation and a professional appearance.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Class A CDL.
• Must have HAZMAT endorsement or be able to obtain the endorsement within 60 days of being hired.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift Experience.
• Touch freight delivery experience.
